The Major Arcana: 12. The Hanged Man
Subaru Sumeragi
The Hanged Man is a painful card. It is a card of voluntary sacrifice for the greater good, of indecision, of surrender, of burdens, of stagnation. The Hanged Man is a man who must reverse his view of life in order to surrender to the new birth of awareness that faces him in the next stage of the path (the next card being Death). This card is an issue of surrender, and every human carries a heavy burden that we must learn to vanquish. Things will always change – things can never return to how they were, and the sooner he can accept that, the sooner he can move on to the next stage of his journey. Until he does, he will be stuck in his stagnation, suspended and hanging, cut off from his personal progression.
When this card appears in your reading, you are being called on to surrender. This is a period of trail, of realization. You must stop trying to control and fight against things, and accept that which is beyond your control – accept your own truths. Surrender to the reality of your wishes and your truths, because until you do, you will be caught in this limbo, unable to move forward.
